Ball-Shape Underground Tank :: Fitting Instructions
Siting:
- Appropriate site should be identified keeping in mind factors such as water source, layout of piping and flow of water.
Excavation:
- Trench shall be excavated to approximate size and shape of tank.
- In areas where there is excessive soil movement or if soil is black cotton it is recommended that a 4" to 6" concrete base (with steel inserts) is made of the diameter of the tank. This ensures that the tank is not pushed up in conditions of high ground water or when the tank is empty.
- The bottom of the trench should be level and there should be no sharp rocks.
- Recommended coverage over the tank should be approx. 18".
Tank installation:
- Tank should be lowered slowly into the pit. Care should be taken not to drop it in. (ensure base and sides is completely even with no sharp objects)
- It is recommended that piping connections are done atleast 18" below ground level and checked.
- Fill the tank with water, till water flows through the piping.
Back-fill for the Tank:
- Material should be free of sharp rocks
- Material should be packed (by hand or foot) at base evenly. If installation is in soil that leave large voids on back filling it should be packed with gravel or sand.
- Ensure that tank does not shift with soil movement.
- At the top,a 3-4" thick cement slab can be made with a provision for a manhole ensure attractive surroundings.
NBSafety:
- It is recommended that heavy equipment should not operated over the system.
- It is suggested that area should be adequately fenced to prevent potential accidents and unauthorized interference.
